Don’t Let A Slow Computer Slow You Down

Tired of a slow computer? This might be the computer’s way of saying it is clean up time! There are many reasons why a computer gets slow. Read on to know the reasons this slows down a computer and the corresponding solutions to fix these problems.
1.    The most common reason behind a computer getting slow is because the computer gets stuffed with junk data like temporary files, cookies, cache files, etc. These junk files use up a lot of the CPU space of your computer, thus affecting its performance. You can remove the junk files by the following steps:

•    Start–>Control Panel–>Network and Internet–>Internet Options
•    You will get a window named “Internet Properties”, then click on the “General” tab and under the “Browsing History” click the “Delete” button.
•    Delete all by clicking “Yes” and then click “Ok” to finish the cleanup.

2.    You have many different types of applications, software, games, etc. installed in your computer which you hardly use. These things eat up disk space and RAM, slowing down your computer. To remove any unwanted programs or applications here are the steps:

•    Go to Start–>Control Panel–>Programs, Then with the help of add/remove programs utility uninstall all the programs that you no longer use and are sitting ideal on your computer.
•    To completely remove the program/application open My Computer–> “C” Drive–>Program Files. Delete the folder which contains the program you want to remove. This will remove the program completely from your PC. To complete the process restart your PC once.
•    You should also empty the recycle bin regularly.

3.    You should run a defragment disk at least once a week on your computer.  This will help the computer to reorganize files and file paths in order to run more efficiently.  You can start defragmenting using the following method:

•    Go to “My Computer”
•    Now right click on the local disk volume you want to defragment, click on “Properties”.
•    Open the “tools” tab and click “Defragment Now”
•    Click “Defragment”

4.    If you use internet intensively on your computer chances are that your computer might have picked up some malicious programs or software. These can affect the performance of your computer and can also lead to system crash. To solve this problem install a good antivirus software and scan your computer. How To Use A Restore Point On Your Computer For Windows 7

Unfortunately, there always comes a time when a new user runs into malicious software that slows down their computer.  This is so common and many newbies will randomly delete folders and files that appear not to be important.  This always causes more problems and other applications to malfunction.  Rather than do this, Windows has made it easy to use a restore point on computer.  The instructions below are for users on Windows 7.

First you need to know how to get a restore point.  Click on the bottom left “start” icon.  It will be in the shape of the Windows logo.  In the search bar, type in “System Restore” and click these exact words from the list that is displayed.  A box will now be presented to you explaining the process of restore points.  Click the “Next” button.  By default Windows 7 will display restore points from the most recent system updates that were made to the computer.  These will be the most recent changes made, but if you click on the radio box “Show more restore points”, you will be presented with other significant changes made such dates where programs were installed or uninstalled, etc.  You will also have the option to “Scan for affected programs”.  It is always wise to click on this regardless.

Next, look at the dates and try to remember about or around the time that the computer started to behave badly.  Again you can always highlight the date and then “Scan for affected programs” to see the events that occurred.  Once you are satisfied with the system restore point, highlight and click on “Next”.  Now highlight the drive (usually Windows C ) and click on “Finish” and Windows will roll back to that point.  That is it!  From here you will have to reboot.  A lot of technicians recommend how to use a restore point  in “Safe Mode”.   To do this, simply  reboot and use the F8 key right before Windows starts up and then perform the above steps as directed.

If the computer is still acting poorly,  how to get a restore point from a system repair disc might be necessary.  This is very easy to do and can be created quite easily.  Simply do a search on the internet for the few steps and for the file to be downloaded and burned onto a CD.  Once created, boot from the CD.  System Recovery will search for Windows installations.  Once finished click on the“Next” button.  In order to get to the recovery tools, make sure “Use Recovery Tools That Can Help Fix Problems Starting Windows” is selected.  Click “Next”.  Once in this mode you will be presented with several options such as “System Restore” and “System Image Recovery”.   Depending on what option is chosen, whether you use a restore point on computer or a system backup, restart the computer to gauge the results.  The process may need to be repeated with other options checked off in order to repair the machine. One of the most annoying things about error notifications is that, unless you’re a seasoned techie, it can be almost impossible to know what’s actually wrong with your PC. Today we’ll be looking at the much-hated but little-understood run time error notification. And we’ll also be looking at ways to help make sure they leave you and your PC alone for good.

What is a Run Time Error?

Basically, a run time error is an error that occurs during the time in between starting and ending a program. When you start, say, your internet browser, the program is then “running” and it is only supposed to stop running when you end the program. That sphere of space is known as the “runtime.” So, if an error occurs during your runtime, it is naturally called a runtime error. Obviously, this means that these kind of errors are somewhat vague, and so Microsoft gives each error a specific code which lets you look up the problem and fix it. But more on that later.

How Do They Happen?

Usually, the reason for a runtime error is because Windows is not working properly. Sometimes the Registry is to blame, while other times it is because a certain update is needed. Old drivers can also be to blame when a runtime error occurs. In most cases, the problem can be traced back directly to your PC or your operating system. But, as luck would have it, all of these problems are very easy to fix and cost virtually nothing.

How do I Fix Runtime Error Notifications?

You could look up the error code online and try to solve the problem manually, but this isn’t recommended unless you are very confident in your skills.
